History

In the 1950’s and 1960’s iconic furniture maker Greaves and Thomas produced high quality British designs with a Danish influence. Sold as high quality, desirable and stylish lounge furniture, their designs continue to imbue those qualities to this day. Greaves and Thomas employed highly respected designers during this period, the most famous of whom was Walter Cornell, who engaged his signature style of clean lines and Danish influence to produce high-end contemporary pieces. 

These beautiful chairs continue to offer modern striking forms which would suit current interior design projects. Subtle and yet striking they are enduring designs of the highest quality.

Materials and Design

The beautiful Afrormosia (African Teak) frames of these wonderful pieces exemplify the beautiful curves and clean lines displayed in Greaves and Thomas’ best work. The sinuous curves of the arm-rests are a joy to run your hands over and display a fantastic understanding of materials. This furniture demonstrates composed and beautiful attention to both styling and detail.

Re-purposed

The pieces have been lovingly re-nourished to bring the most out of the wood and to nurture the enduring qualities of the completely original frames. The upholstery structure has been restored and where required upgraded to ensure the original form is complete and sound. The furniture has been re-upholstered in beautiful cream hard wearing boucle upholstery fabric. The reclining chair mechanisms are in excellent condition and the extending footrests have been re-sprung. The furniture is in fantastic condition but does have some wear commensurate with age and use. Please note on the rear leg of one of the chairs there is a small bit of damage that can be seen in the last photo in this set.
